POM: What a roll to start the year

Actually I point sevened to start the year but that's not the point. My second roll I hit a point and rolled in the teens. 3rd roll was high, far, deep, and gone. It wasn't my best roll as far as how many numbers were rolled, it was a low 40's roll. What made it good was almost no trash maybe 4 garbage #'s and I hit at least 9 points with 2 or 3 naturals. Almost everything I rolled I was on. I went through a stretch where I kept hitting points back to back. Establish a point hit the point, establish the point hit the point. When the roll started I tossed 2 weak shots and the words of NFF saved the day. I told myself to trust my shot and I just went into a zone. The point was 10, the next shot after I said that I hit a primary hard 10 winner.

I started the roll with a $11(1 4 dealer) $22 odds(2 4 dealer) $12 6/8 and a $10 hard 10(I know). Right after telling myself to trust my shot I hit the hard 10. I collect but go to $50 on my hard 10. The next roll was the comeout and I got a little fancy. I set the 6/5 top and the 5/6 facing me. I did it like that because I either was rolling primary top face hits or I was getting the left top face and the right was the number on die facing me. I was banking on the latter. I hopped the 5/6 and the 5/5 on the comeout. I looked at my $50 hard 10 and everything in me wanted to work it. For some reason the words wouldn't come out of my mouth. I debated with myself for a second. I was thinking myself your pitch control is where it needs yo be right now. Your on axis and staying within the top faces or faces facing you....the sevens not coming so work it. I didn't and the next roll was the hard 10. I still caught a $135(I pressed the hard 10 up to $10 and moved the money from the 12 to the 6/4. I switched the set because it was now the point cycle) off the hop. I missed it but rolled the 6/4 a few rolls later. I put $15 back on the hard 10, I hit it again and went to $100. I collected on buy of the 10 but I never hit anothe 10. Towards the end of the roll with the 5/5 top 4/4 facing me, I rolled the 5/4 and literally missed it by less than 1/8 of an inch.

After hitting my point I went back to using the 7 set. Using 5/2 top 3/4 facing me on the comeout I had a point Of 5 3/2 on the come 3 times in a row. I hit all 3 points in about 5 minutes with a few numbers in between. I noticed that 3/2 on the comeout so I hopped it for $10 and I hopped the 5/2 for $10. I was using 5/2 top 3/4 facing me so if I'm perfect I roll 5/2 and a shade off 3/2. I rolled the 3/2 for another point of 5. I was paid $140 and I messed up a little. I forgot the hop bet was up. I went back to the 3V. 3/3 top 5/1 facing and luckily hit the 3/2 again. It cost me money by forgetting because being that I hopped the 3/2 and 5/2 to start, there was still money on the 5/2 which I wouldn't do in the point cycle. I went to $25 5/2 and $25 on the 3/2 on the new comeout. I also hopped them $5 apiece for the dealers. I debated going to $50 on the 3/2. Next roll was the 3/2. I took down the 5/2 and stayed at $25 on the 3/2. I rolled the 6/2 and it was very close to another 3/2.

After that I went back to the regular game. I progressed my points okay but not like I wanted to. I wanted to go up after 3 conversions but I took a few extra at lower intervals so it cost me a few bucks. I went $10 pl $20 odds, next point $30 odds, points 3,4,5 were at $10 pl $50 odds. Points 6,7,8,9 were at $15 with 5X. On point #nine it was a 5 for the 6th time. I had $15 pl and $100 odds and I also placed the point for $100. I hit that point and threw the dealers $10 and went to $250 on the place bet. I went to $32 pl and $210 odds on the new point of 5 for the 7th time(I hit a lot of points back to back so it's possible I had more conversions but definately not less, I rolled the 4 about 5 times, the 8 maybe 3 times but other than that I didn't roll a lot of numbers). I really wanted this last 5 because even if the next point was a 6/8 and I went $30 $250 in odds hitting this 5 was going to guarantee me another $630. $350 off the place bet and $330 off the line bet. $50 of that would have went back if the next point was a 6/8. I had about $1350 in the rack but about $800 on the board so I was looking for 1 more hit. I didn't play this roll perfect but I'm getting better. I had $100 on the 4(took it for $70 3 times, pressed to $100 and collected once. $250 on the 5 (didn't get it). $60 on the 6(hit only once but it was right after I made it look like $60 from $12. I did that from profit. $60 8 (got it their from $12 but took a few at $30). $0 on the 9(rolled like 3 9's, missed my $100 hard 10 with a 5/4 by an 1/8 inch on one of the last tosses before the 7. $35 10( I rolled like 5 or 6 tens but 4 were early on points and conversions, sometimes I'll still buy it when it's the point for $35 and $35-$100-$300 and collect $585 on the 3rd hit) I planned on doing that with the 4 and I was kind of pissed I didn't follow the plan. I sure wish I could go $600-$1800-table max on the buy of the 4 and 10 like some people I know but maybe oneday. Not bad of a $12 6/8 10 pl w/20 odds and a $10 hard 10.

I sure wish I would have listened to our buddy and neglected the evil no ha odds bet. I would have made barely nothing on a nice roll. All rolls are different so you have to be aware and observe. I've had longer rolls where I only hit 1 point and obliterated the numbers. I was tired after the roll(before it ended I knew it was close to being over because I was fatigued. Must be getting old. I wanted that last 5 and that $100 hard 10. That would have added about an extra 1200 because I would have went 2 on the hard 10 and pressed the regular 10. It would have looked a lot better to me at + $2550 with 970 on the board. Instead I finished up about $1350 with about $830 out there. A little 2 much on the board. I probable should have took that $140 on the last hit on the 5. Then it would have been up $1490 with $680 out there. That is more of the ratio I'm looking for but it's okay.

I was using the 5/2 top and 3/4 facing me for the comeout. That is why the 5 was the point 7 times. I noticed I was hitting the top left and the right die facing me (3/2) so that's why I hopped it. On my first hop of the 5/5 I hit it was the same thing. I set them up 5/6 6/5 do I hit the top left and the right die facing me (5/5). On the 5/5 hop I was paid 30 to 1, on the 3/2 15 to 1. Being that I knew the pattern I could have put whatever numbers I wanted into those 2 positions, preferably a hard way to get the 30 to 1. Being able to call your shot is pretty powerful and financially rewarding. I would like to be able to bet it for higher amounts because the odds are so high the difference between starting at $5 or $50 is huge in profit when your dealing with 30 to 1 odds.

I am open to advice on what would have been a better way to make more profit. This is the way I played but if you have a better way to make more money, please share. I'm being serious. $1350 on a roll is not a ton but consider it started with $70 and generated at least $2300. The dealers made at least $200 and I tipped a lot of people down there $5-$10 bucks that I missed during the holidays. So that figure was after that plus the $150 from my friend Korey's roll. It was a nice trip to start a new year.

I've been doing this type of thing for too many years for it to be an accident. I made many nice shots on that roll but there were 5 I got lucky on, so luck still played a part. Skill was still the major factor. Once I get my life stable again and I can really practice, the casino has problems. I'm telling you, I am going to be a lot in the future when my life gets more normal and I can really dedicate my time. I'm picturing my new place with a table in the dining room, all my craps buddies coming over on a Friday night and having fun figuring out the best ways to maximize profits. That picture in my head is one of my goals. I let you guys know when you can come over.
